This is a Kotoko Equestrian figurine from the lake Chad region. These cast bronze figurines are found in the ground by farmers tilling the soil or during excavations. They are attributed to the Kotoko ethnic group who are descendants of the Sao, one of the oldest iron working cultures in west Africa. Made from brass. Measures 2" long.
